The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Muhammed Adamu on Friday charged the 50 new police officers who passed out from the National Police Training Institute to be agents of change in character, knowledge and action as the force seeks to reposition.
The charge was made by the IGP while addressing graduating police officers in Abuja.
The IGP said: “As you step out as proud graduates of this great institute, I challenge you to be the change agent we yearn for in Nigeria Police both In character, knowledge and action.
“You should employ the knowledge you have acquired towards strategic leadership that will inspire other officers across all round to the path of police professionalism.
“Our dream is for the Nigerian Police to have an excellent centre for professional studies and strategic leadership learning with a mission to become a catalyst for knowledge and to conduct law enforcement researches that will improve service delivery,” Adamu said.
Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, charged the new officers to be good representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, saying “constitute yourselves in a very good light and at all times commit yourselves to the profession of policing of Nigeria”.
The newly graduated officers participated in the pioneering course of the institute to imbibe modern police practices into the Nigeria Police Force.
