Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality star and on-air personality, Natacha Akide, better known as Tacha, has insisted she did not look down on Nigerian rapper, Odumodublvck and two of his colleagues.

The reality star had during the last episode of her show on Cool FM, Lagos, labelled the three singers “upcoming artistes”

However, after the show made the rounds on social media, it elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians, as she came under heavy fire for referring to the trio of Blaqbonez, Odumodublvck and Shallipopi as “upcoming artistes” during her Big Friday Show.

Reacting to the backlash via a video message shared on her social media handles, Tacha insisted that using such words for the singer was not in any way derogatory or condescending.

She went on to say after her comment generated a heated debate on social media, she decided to check the meaning of the words on Google and found out that it was in order.

Tacha said: “An episode from the Big Friday Show has gone viral and there’s no amount of insult I’ve not gotten. Everybody is saying, ‘Tacha called Blaqbonez an upcoming artiste. Tacha called Odumodublvck an upcoming artiste.’

“If I called them upcoming artistes, tell me, what is wrong with using the term upcoming artistes? I rushed to Google to see the meaning of the term upcoming musician: ‘Upcoming musicians are those singers that are no longer new because they have been around for some time and promising to make it big.’

“Now, how is me calling Blaqbonez an upcoming artiste me putting him down or being condescending? Blaqbonez is my guy, Odumodu is my guy, Shallipopi…” [sic].
