The UEFA Champions League resumes on Tuesday after weekend hostilities in various domestic leagues, with 16 teams jostling for the 8 available spots in the quarter finals.

Liverpool will host Inter Milan at Anfield after beating the Italians 2-0 at the San Siro Stadium and taking a 2-0 aggregate lead a few weeks ago.

The hosts go into the match after a narrow 1-0 win over West Ham United, while Inter Milan will feel they can upturn the scoreline after trashing La Liga’s bottom club Salernitana 5-0 over the weekend.

Spanish referee, Antonio Maten will take charge of the mouthwatering encounter, which is expected to begin by 9pm WAT.

Given that Liverpool are yet to be beaten at Anfield this season, the Italians may be in for a very difficult night, but Inter may be encouraged with the brave display by West Ham on Saturday.

The Reds after securing a 2-0 lead are expected to win again and progress to the next round but Inter Milan will not be a pushover and are capable of an upset.

The other Tuesday fixture will be played at the same time, Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich will welcome Austrian outfit, FC Salzburg to the Allianz Arena after they played a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Salzburg is in good form, they dispatched Altach 4-0 in their last league match, Bayern in contrast played a 1-1 draw with Leverkusen after Thomas Muller’s own goal cancelled Sule’s goal.

The Germans remain the favourite despite their form, but FC Salzburg were unlucky to concede a 90th minute goal in their first leg, they will be hoping they can produce a giant killing performance on Tuesday.

The tricky encounter will be officiated by a 39-year-old French referee, Clement Trupin.
