The Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, has sworn in caretaker committee chairmen for the 20 local government councils in the state.
During the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House, Bauchi, the governor urged the new local government bosses to pay special attention to the improvement of internally generated revenue of thier local government areas to take care of salaries of chairmen and Council members as well as execute projects to compliment what they receive from the federation account.
Represented by the State Deputy Governor, Nuhu Gidado, the governor warned them against corruption, indolence and incompentency, pointing out that he would not hesitate to remove any chairman found wanting or disloyal to the government.
” Let me remind you that assignment given to you is a trust. You have a duty to God and obligation to your fellow human beings. Thus, you should not be tempted to abuse the trust bestowed on you as you are there to serve the people and not become thier bosses.
“This administration attaches great importance to probity, accountability and strict adherence to due process in governance.
“To this end, I admonish you to be judicious in handling the finances of the local government, to be fair in your dealing with all people and shun bootlickers and rumour mongers,” Abubakar said.
He urged them to put in place measures aimed at employment generation to the people by revitalizating ailing industries, provide technical and vocational training to the youths so that they could become self-employed.
