Basketmouth in December 2022, announced on social media that he and wife, Elsie were separating after 12 years of marriage

Ace stand-up comedian and comic actor, Bright Okpocha better known as Basketmouth has said his separation from his wife, Elsie, was real and not another skit as is being suggested.
In November 2010, Basketmouth married his longtime girlfriend Elsie in Lagos, Nigeria and the duo shared three children together.
But in December 2022, he announced via his official Instagram account that he and his wife were getting a divorce after 12 years of marriage
After the social media post, a lot of his fans and other netizens, who had seen several comedians make a U-turn after announcing an important event in their life, dismissed the separation news, labelling it as one of his jokes.

However, in a recent interview with a Ghana television station, TV3NewDay, Basketmouth reconfirmed the separation from his wife.
He said, ‘’I am separated right now. People thought it was a joke but it wasn’t. Some people were like do you want to promote a show and I was like you definitely do not know my design.
“I do not bring my personal matter on a public platform but it was something I needed to do and for reasons best known to me.‘’
Basket mouth also recently announced his plans to quit comedy in five years’ time.
He said he would be doing so because he wants to venture into new fields, as he would want to be remembered for other things apart from comedy when he is no more.
