Barcelona annihilate arch-rival Real Madrid

Barcelona stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games and leapfrogged Atletico Madrid into the third position in the table

Former Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace in his El-Clasico debut, as Barcelona humiliated their arch-rival and La Liga leaders, Real Madrid at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.  

The hosts were 15 points clear at the top of the league before the encounter and Barca came into the game in 4th position on the log table, indicating the gulf between the two clubs this season. 

Barca dominated the opening exchanges and they were rewarded in the 29th minute when Aubameyang headed home a cross from Ousmane Dembele to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. 

Ronald Araujo doubled Barcelonas’ advantage in the 38th minute after   Ousmane Dembele provided his second assist of the night, which he converted.

Ferran Torres made it three in the 47th minute of the second half, while Aubameyang capped it with a brace in the 57th minute to end the game 4-0.

Real Madrid were seeking a sixth straight win in this fixture, but looked uninspired and created little as their lead over Sevilla at the top remained at 9 points.

Xavi’s men stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games and leapfrogged Atletico Madrid into the third position in the table while reducing the gap between them and Real Madrid to 12 points with a game in hand.
