Bandits running amok in Nigeria, kidnap grieving woman 24hrs after husband’s death

Gunmen

Bandits have abducted a woman less than 24hours after losing her husband to death, in continuation of their campaign of terror against Nigerians.

The Daily Trust Newspaper which reported the abduction, says the abducted woman is the widow of Alhaji Rabe Bello Kofa, the former head of Kofa village in Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State, who died yesterday August 24.

The newspaper, quoting a resident who spoke anonymously, said the kidnappers stormed the village in the early hours of Wednesday.

He said they went straight to the house of the village head, who died on Tuesday, and abducted some members of the bereaved family, including his widow.

“The village head of Kofa, who was an elder brother to a former Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, died on Tuesday and was buried on the same day in accordance with Islamic rites.”

“Unfortunately, some gunmen entered the house and abducted about five members of the family including the wife of the deceased but later released four and held the widow in captivity. As we speak, she is still there with them,” he said.

When contacted, SP Gambo Isah, police spokesman in Katsina, said he would inquire from the DPO of the area and revert.

He had not done so as of the time of filing this report.
