A female resident medical doctor at the National Eye Centre in Kaduna State, Ganiyat Popoola, has finally regained her freedom after spending over 10 months in kidnappers’s den.

Ganiyat, a Registrar in the Department of Ophthalmology at the National Eye Centre, was abducted by bandits in December 2023, alongside her husband, Nurudeen Popoola, who is a military officer and her nephew, Folaranmi Abdul-Mugni who lives with them.

The abductors later released her husband on March 8, but held on to her and her nephew.

They were, however, freed on Wednesday evening, bringing an end to their terrifying ordeal in the hands of their abductors
