Babangida hails Nigerian Army over takeover of Sambisa forest

The former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has said that he was delighted for Nigeria Army’s successful takeover of the dreaded Sambisa forest from Boko-Haram insurgents.

Babangida spoke in Minna on Monday, December 26, 2016.

His words: “It is a sign of relief that the military has finally smoked out members of the Boko-Haram terrorist group from their notorious enclave after many years of making lives unbearable by terrorizing Nigerians.

“May I rejoice with the government and Nigerians on the successful dislodging of the Boko-Haram terrorist group from their base in Sambisa forest. Indeed Nigerian army has proved their worth.”

The former military leader also saluted the determination of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Army Chiefs as well as armed men and women and other security personnel for making sacrifices for the painful liberation of Sambisa forest.

Babangida said that with the latest development he was hopeful that soon the remaining Chibok girls would be located and rescued to be reunited with their families.

The former military president also paid tributes to all Nigeria’s fallen heroes for paying a supreme sacrifice in their efforts to keep the country free from external aggression.

He said, “The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain,” while urging the Nigerian military to evolve new strategies of further checking internal and external pockets of insurgents /terrorists, armed bandits and cattle rustlers and all other uprising that tends to undermine the collective interest of all patriotic Nigerians.
