The Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria (AVRS) has become the latest member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC). This significant development was announced by Olubukola Adeyemi, AVRS General Manager, in a recent statement.
The admission of AVRS into CISAC was formalized at the General Assembly held in Seoul, South Korea, on May 30, 2024.
Expressing his enthusiasm, the Audio Visual Rights Society of Nigeria Chairman Mahmood Ali-Balogun stated, “Joining CISAC is a landmark achievement for its members. It validates our efforts in protecting audiovisual creators’ rights and opens up new avenues for international collaboration. We are excited to work closely with CISAC and its member societies to further our shared goals.”

This milestone marks a new chapter in AVRS’s mission to advocate for the rights of audiovisual creators. As a member of CISAC, AVRS joins a distinguished community of over 227 authors’ societies from 116 countries, representing over 5 million creators across various artistic fields.
The membership will empower AVRS to enhance its mission of ensuring fair compensation and robust legal protections for audiovisual creators. It will also facilitate greater collaboration and the exchange of best practices on a global scale.
Additionally, CISAC membership will provide AVRS with access to a wide range of resources, including advanced technological tools, educational programs, and a network of international intellectual property rights experts.
