Three persons have died while 33 others were injured in an auto crash along Gwachipe bridge along the Suleja-Lambata bridge yesterday in Niger State.
The accident occurred at about noon and was said to have been caused by the over-speeding trailer conveying goods and persons to Lagos from Kano.
It was said that the driver lost control as he made his way to cross the bridge.
Meanwhile, the officials of Suleja-Lambata outpost of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who arrived the scene, confirmed the accident, while evacuating the victims to the nearby hospital.
The Niger State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joel Dagwa, attributed the crash to recklessness on the part of the driver.
“We had a lone crash which involved a commercial trailer without any plate number from Kano heading to Lagos”.
All the 36 people including 25 male adults, seven female adults, two male children and two female children were involved in the accident. By our rescue records, 30 people were seriously injured while three male lost their lives in the crash”.
Dagwa further explained that victims of the lone road crash were evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Gawu Babangida, while the three corpses were deposited in the mortuary at Sabon-Wuse.
