Gabon and Chelsea striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has accused his former manager, Mikel Arteta, of lacking what it takes to manage high-profile players.

According to Metro, Arteta made the assertion recently, saying the Spanish tactician is only comfortable with young players, who don’t have a voice of their own.

Aubamayang left the North North London club for La Liga giants,  Barcelona in February after he was stripped of the club’s captaincy and later demoted to the reserve team.

After helping the Catalans to qualify for the Champions League, the 34-year-old former Borussia Dortmund star returned to London, joining Arsenal arch-rivals, Chelsea.

He was not the only big-time player Arteta had issues with, the Spaniard also fell out with Mesut Ozil, the Gunners’ captain, and left him out of the Arsenal squad.

Aubameyang, speaking about how his move to Barcelona was achieved, said that the management style of the former Man City assistant coach at Arsenal shows he cannot handle ‘big players’.

He said, “I remember they [Barcelona] first called my father.

“We knew the coach, Xavi, then he called me and said there is an opportunity because you have those problems with Arsenal, but if you come you will help us a lot, so I said, ‘okay’.

“But to manage big characters or big players, he [Arteta] can’t deal with it.

“He [Arteta] needs some young players, they don’t say anything, they listen.”
