Audu Sani, a witness testifying on behalf of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Tuesday told a five-man panel led by Justice Garba Usman that he could not remember the date of the last presidential election.
Sani was the PDP’s collation agent in Niger State for Lapai Local Government Area during the presidential election.
He claimed there were violence and thuggery in different parts of the area, which prevented free and fair voting.
But during cross-examination, he lost his bearing when the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) lawyer, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) asked him the date the presidential election held.
Sani fidgeted, said 23rd.
Fagbemi told him to be specific with the month. He simply replied: “I can not remember”.
