Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has joined other Nigerians in demanding  justice for Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, the 12-year-old student of Dowen College, allegedly beaten to death by his schoolmates.

Sylvester Oromoni died two days ago after battling internal injuries he sustained from battery he received from his  fellow students.

Dowen College had earlier claimed the injuries were caused by a fall during a football match, the parents of Sylvester Oromoni disclosed.

But the uncle of Sylvester Oromoni revealed on his Twitter handle, @Perrisonoromoni, that his  12-year-old nephew was battered for refusing to join a cult group in the school. He said a series of tests and X-rays indicated that he sustained internal injuries.

The young Sylvester Oromoni, according to his uncle, identified three students of the school by name who allegedly brutalised him.

He shared the pictures of the alleged aggressors  on his Twitter handle, but they are minors, hence we won’t be publishing it.

But Nigerians have been demanding for justice for the young Sylvester Oromoni.

Atiku said: “We shall be failing in our duties as parents/guardians, administrators, security agencies and government if we do not get to the bottom of the case of late Sylvester Oromoni. It is beholden upon us to enthrone a safe environment in our schools. #Justiceforsylvester”

Banky W’s wife, Adesua Etomi, also said: “Quick question. Is Dowen college still not going to give Sylvester’s family a real explanation about what happened to their son? Face with symbols over mouth

I don’t want to hear any football story.

Do they really think this is going to go away? Somebody’s child.”

Activist, Aisha Yesufu, added: “Nigeria is such a bloody crime scene. No where is safe and no person child or adult is safe.

Kai! #Justiceforsylvester”

#EndSARS campaigner, Rinu Oduala, also said: “The madness from the Nigerian Government has emboldened private sectors and individuals as well to do as they like. A student was kïlled due to your school’s negligence, yet you had the guts to lie & try to cover up what has happened? #JusticeForSylvester.”

Disc Jockey, DJ Switch, said: “The kids can see twitter; do what’s right! Submit yourselves 2 d authorities!

To d parents; d need 2 protect ur kids 4 their crimes will breed a terror for a child in d future. These are the ones that end up being serial killers. Dowen shld be shut down 4 now #Justiceforsylvester.”
