Atiku in Kogi, says if elected president,  fixing Ajaokuta will be priority

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has promised to revamp the Ajaokuta Steel Mill if elected President in the February 25 election. 

Atiku made the pledge at the presidential rally of the PDP in Kogi State. 

The rally, held today, January 14 at the 25,000 seating capacity Confluence Stadium in Lokoja, was filled with enthusiastic supporters.

Atiku said he would prioritise revamping the Ajaokuta Steel Mill and under his watch, the “nightmare of Ajaokuta’ would be over. 

The PDP flag bearer also said connecting  Kogi to Nigeria’s Maritime pathway is not only important to the state, but to the entire northern part of the country. He said if elected president, he would ensure that the state has an inland port.

Atiku told Kogi civil servants that if they elect him president, paying salaries in areas would be over because he would ensure that the federal government supports the state to meet it’s financial obligations to workers. 

The rally was attended by top leaders of the PDP including National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, Atiku’s running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, Director Generals of the Campaign – Aminu Tambuwal and Udom Emmanuel, both governors of Sokoto and Akwa Ibom States.

Some defectors from All Progressives Congress (APC) were accepted into the PDP led by the former deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba.
