Former Nigerian Vice President and 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has described ace Afrobeats singer, Onyeka Onwenu as a “transformation journalist” and a “multi-talented woman”.
He made the remarks while sending his condolences to friends and families of the late musician via his official X page on Wednesday.
The PDP chieftain, while expressing sadness over the singer’s death, said she was a journalist of repute.
He went on to say her musical prowess led to multiple hits, which will continue to resonate long after her exit.

Speaking via his verified social media handle, Atiku tweeted: “Oh dear, I am so sad to learn of the passing of Onyeka Onwenu, MFR. Onyeka was a multi-talented woman whose impact would stand the test of time.
“She was a transformational journalist whose works, such as the documentary “Nigeria: The Squandering of Riches,” are timeless. Her musical prowess led to multiple hits, which will continue to resonate long after her exit.
“On behalf of my family, I express my deepest condolences to her beloved family and friends and the musical fraternity.
“May God grant her family the fortitude to bear her departure.“
