Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has described the emergence of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 elections as a good omen for the party and the country.

Ihedioha, who is the Imo State PDP governorship candidate, said Abubakar was a “catalyst for Nigeria’s progress.”

The PDP chieftain who spoke through a statement by his media aide, Chibuike Onyeukwu, said, “Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a leader who understands Nigeria very well and no doubt has what it takes to tackle the numerous challenges bedeviling our country.
“He is a founding father of our great party, whose trajectory has enriched our democracy. He is a statesman, who is humane and has excelled in all human endeavours. I am confident that he will reunite our sorely fragmented nation for the collective wellbeing of all Nigerians.
“I urge all Nigerians to rally round him and the Peoples Democratic Party to provide the much needed leadership towards realizing the Nigerian Project.”
