AthIetics boss, Ahmed Gara woo govt. private sector on AthIetes development in Gombe State
Sequel to the kick-off of the much anticipated Inter-Primary Schools Athletics Championship, the association Chairman Hon. Ahmed Shauib Gara Gombe has called on Gombe State Government, philanthropists and the Private sector to help Track & Field grow.
Speaking to Journalists after first session break, said, since he was given the mandate to pilot AthIetics in the state, he has not relented in putting the round peg in a round hole.
According him, sports is not a one man show. But it appears sports is ment for an individual, insisting that he has funded the on going athletics project 100% adding that govt, private section and sports loving philanthropists should encourage him to continue.
He also said if nothing comes from the above named sectors, He would continue to support sports, insisting that AthIetics is in his blood.
Shauib Gara wondered why the private sector should be idle and watch people who needed education empowerment health and Sports facilitation are crying for help while death and poverty are ravaging the youth population.
Gombe was also unhappy with colleagues who were appointeded the same day and blamed them for accepting challenges they could not enforce with their resources.
“I have spent over N3.5m on the on going youth Championship without kobo from anywhere. If the private sector should knock on our doors to help us we would oblige them” he said.
He further appealed to Youths for more interest in Sports to achieve their lift time ambition
