Chairman of Anambra Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) Vera Nwadinobi has called on teachers in the basic education sector to get serious with their jobs and maintain the highest standard.

Nwadinobi stated this during a monitoring tour of select primary schools in Nsugbe, Anambra East Council Area.

The ASUBEB chairman reminded teachers that Soludo is a disciplined teacher who is passionate about high standards of teachers and teaching, emphasising that genuine desire and intention of the present administration is to replicate top-notch high standards in Anambra schools.

Nwadinobi, who discovered to her disappointment that punctuality to school is a major problem for teachers, noticed that even the head teachers are not exempted as only 10 out of 29 teachers in one school were present as of the time of morning assembly, until 8:00 am when she left.

She, however, reminded the teachers that dedicated teachers are supposed to be in school before the morning assembly which starts by 7.30 am and charged them to change their lackadaisical attitude and become more serious and dedicated to their duties for maximum performance of pupils.

The ASUBEB boss warned that henceforth disciplinary actions will be meted out on any teacher that plays with his/her job, as it will no longer be business as usual because basic education is the foundational level of learning.
