Aston Villa is keen on signing Arsenal academy graduate and attacking midfielder, Emile Smith-Rowe from the Premier League leaders, during the summer window.

According to British journalist, Chris Wheatley, Smith-Rowe, has grown disappointed with his lack of game time under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium and wants to leave.

He is,  therefore, considering joining Arsenal’s PL rivals, Aston Villa and reuniting with his former manager, Unai Emery, who handed his Arsenal debut in the Europa League in 2018.

Smith-Rowe after joining the senior team scored 10 goals and made two assists in 33 appearances for the Gunners last season. He has, however, failed to make a single start this season.

Although the 23-year-old has been injured a couple of times earlier in the season, he is still unhappy with his non-involvement in the north London club’s fight for the PL trophy.

“There’s absolute truth in Villa’s interest in Smith Rowe. Unai Emery’s a big admirer of Emile Smith Rowe,” the journalist said via The Chris Wheatley Show.

“I know he’s disappointed with his lack of first-team opportunities.

“So yeah, Smith Rowe is wanted by Aston Villa. I think it’s a move that he would certainly consider because it’s a chance to rejuvenate his career.”
