While Nigerians are still basking in the euphoria of Super Falcon’s stunning defeat of host country, Australia, at the ongoing FIFA Women World Cup, Asisat Oshoala’s father is frowning at the way his daughter celebrated the magnificent goal.

Asisat Oshoala, Super Falcons skipper, has revealed her father’s reaction on how she chose to celebrate the third goal against Australia on Thursday.

The Super Falcons striker, during the enthralling encounter in Brisbane, extended Nigeria’s advantage over Australia in the second half.

The Barcelona forward, who came on as a second-half substitute, swooped in on a defensive mix-up in the 72nd minute and beat an Australian defender for pace, before slotting past the goalkeeper from a tight angle to hand the Super Falcons a 3-1 lead.

The match ended 3-2 in favour of Nigeria.

The 29-year-old pulled off her jersey and ran to the sideline to celebrate her goal with her teammates, getting a yellow card in the process.

Her iconic photo has since stirred fans on social media, with some questioning her faith and morality.

A Twitter user Olumide Oluyisola wrote, “Good goal. But due to with so much indiscipline, she (Oshoala) just got an absolutely useless yellow card, which may become a problem for the team if they go far in the tournament.”

But some implied Oshoala’s shirtless victory act was spurred out of intense excitement, arguing she was still well-cladded compared to many other women who walk on the streets almost nude.

But the African football queen’s father wasn’t left out on the list of persons that expressed reservations about her celebration style.

She shared this via her Instagram page, stating that her father expressed displeasure over her style of celebration.

She shared photos of some victorious moments from the match captured on pitch including the shirtless ones.

Accompanying the post, the five-time African Women Footballer winner wrote: “My dad is definitely not happy with my choice of celebration but then again, Life is a collection of MOMENTS. #Alhamdulilah #Grateful #Moments.”
