Arteta urges Ramsdale to stay at Arsenal

Arteta dropped Ramsdale as Arsenal’s no.1 after the arrival of Brentford goalkeeper, David Raya in the summer

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has told his goalkeeper, Aaron Ramsdale that he wants him to stay at the Emirates Stadium despite losing his position to summer loan signing, David Raya.

The 25-year-old Englishman is being linked with a move away from Arsenal in January.

According to ESPN,  Ramsdale is attracting interest from Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Newcastle United are also in the market for a goalkeeper after Nick Pope’s shoulder injury.

The England international who took over from Fulham goalkeeper, Bernard Leno has started only one Premier League game since September 3.

He lost his place as Arsenal’s no.1 after the arrival of Brentford goalkeeper, David Raya in the summer and has since found starting hard to come by.

Speaking on the future of Ramsdale on Monday, Arteta said he wants to keep him, adding that he does not have a problem with having two top goalkeepers in his squad.

He said: “I want Aaron with us. I am very happy to have two very, very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us.”

Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League after 14 games, they will travel on Tuesday to face Luton Town after beating visiting Wolves 2-1 on Saturday.
