Arteta replaced Unai Emery at Arsenal in November 2019, taking a senior managerial role for the first time in his career

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has refuted claims that he is planning to dump the Premier League side for La Liga giants, Barcelona at the end of this season.

On Sunday, there were rumours in Spain that Arteta would walk away from the North London club in the summer after Barcelona boss, Xavi announced he was stepping down as coach.

However, according to Sky Sports, Arteta will not be leaving Arsenal as speculated.

The stories linking the Gunners boss with Barca had claimed that the Spaniard informed his staff that he was leaving the Emirates.

He was rumoured to be joining Barcelona because the job is expected to become vacant ahead of the 2024/2025 campaign.

Earlier on Saturday, Xavi revealed he would be relinquishing his position as Barca head coach at the end of the season.

The result leaves them 11 points behind LaLiga leaders Girona.

Speaking after the encounter Xavi said: “I want to announce that on June 30 I will no longer continue as the coach at Barca.

“I think the situation needs to change course, and as a culer [Barcelona fan], I cannot allow the current situation.”

He added: “As a cul, as a club person, I believe the best thing is to leave on June 30. Of course, I will give all I have in the four months that are left”
