Arsenal captain, Alexandre Lacazette has identified his gaffer, Mikel Arteta as the brain behind the resurgence of the Gunners and the reason they are currently among the 4 four Premier League teams.

Mikel Arteta’s men have become the odds-on favourites to get the last Champions League place, a significant improvement from last season when they finished 8th, outside all the European spots.

Arteta became manager at the Emirate at the end of 2019 after Unai Emery was sacked, but his appointment was criticised because he had no prior senior management experience which qualifies him to lead a team of Arsenal stature at the time.

He has since proven his doubters wrong and has now become one of the finest managers in England, and Lacazette says he deserves credit for the progress the club has made under him.

“We are focused on being in the top four,” he told Mundo Deportivo

“We want to get the team into the Champions League next season. We work for it all week, and at the moment, it’s working.

“We want to continue like this, working hard every day to play well at the weekend.

“Arteta is the leader, the boss, even the boss of the club. Since he arrived, a lot of things have changed, including everyone’s mentality… It’s all about him” Lacazette added.

Arsenal currently have 54 points and are 5 points from Chelsea in 3rd, they are followed by their North London rivals, Spurs, who are 3 points adrift of them and 5th of the log table.
