Arsenal stay top as Liverpool, Man City play out 1-1 draw at Anfield

Liverpool restored parity in the second-half after Alexis Mac Allister scored from the penalty spot in the 50th minute

Liverpool and Man City remain second and third respectively on the English  Premier League (EPL) log table after playing out a 1-1 draw at the Anfield Stadium on Sunday evening.

Man City started the game the brightest of the two sides and were duly rewarded in the 23rd minute when John Stones swept in Kevin de Bruyne’s corner to give the visitors the lead.   

However, Alexis Mac Allister restored parity for Liverpool in the second-half after scoring from the penalty spot as both sides played out an absorbing draw.

Man City’s Phil Foden struck the bar and Jeremy Doku hit the post late on.

On the part of Liverpool, Luiz Diaz was also guilty of wasting a few chances that could have won the intriguing game for his side.

The draw meant Arsenal, who leapfrogged both sides on Saturday stayed top of the Premier League, level on points with second-placed Liverpool, with City a point behind in third.
