Arsenal line up De Zerbi to take over from Arteta

De Zerbi has impressed since joining Brighton, he has taken the modest Premier League club to the 6th position on the log table

Arsenal, despite enjoying their best season since 2004 in the Premier League (PL), have started preparing for life after Mikel Arteta, as they have identified Brighton manager, Roberto de Zerbi as the man to take over from him.

Arteta, who is currently in his 4th season at the club, has become one of the finest managers in world football.

The Spaniard had no prior senior managerial experience before he took the position, which means he has learnt most things on the job.

However, he has become one of the finest coaches in the game after taking a young Arsenal side to the top of the PL and the club’s hierarchy knows he could leave, as his stock continues to rise.

According to justarsenal.com, a report on Sport Witness suggests Arsenal are aware they risk losing their former captain and have decided on his successor already.

The north London club are expected to appoint De Zerbi as his replacement, if the gaffer were to leave his role as the club’s manager.

While it may sound ridiculous to think about replacing Arteta now, it’s a known fact that the world of football does not always offer guarantees.

The 41-year-old could want a new challenge next season and walk out on the job.

Again, even though the club is currently in a very good position, if he starts losing games, the board could pull the trigger and sack him.

Meanwhile, De Zerbi has impressed since he replaced Graham Potter at Brighton, as he has taken the modest team to the 6th position on the PL log table.

They are currently ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea and on course for a place in either the Champions League or Europa League.
