Arsenal fans, having seen rival Chelsea go ahead of them in the race to sign Leeds United winger, Raphinha, have demanded that the club should re-sign their academy graduate, Serge Gnabry instead.

The Gunners have signed 3 players this summer and are on the verge of completing a deal for  £45million rated Manchester City striker,  Gabriel Jesus, but the fans are asking for more.

The North London club, have gone from being the frontrunners in Raphinha’s chase to potentially losing the deal to their bitter rivals Chelsea, who have now agreed a £60m fee with Leeds for the striker.

But instead of channeling their disappointment at the club hierarchy and Edu, their recruitment chief, for missing out on the Brazilian, Arsenal fans have moved on from Raphinha and focused on their former player Gnabry.

The 26-year-old’s future at Bayern Munich is up in the air, as his contract runs out next year but he has yet to sign an extension and has been strongly linked with a move away.

As one Gunners fan on Twitter put it: ‘Lost race for Raphinha, no problem… Gnabry is a better option anyday (sic). Please bring him home.’

Another said Gnabry represented better value, writing: “I’d rather have Gnabry than Raphinha. Especially at the fees being discussed for the Leeds man.”

One more Twitter user echoed the sentiments of the first two and other many Arsenal fans regarding both Raphinha and Gnabry, as he said:

“‘If we can’t get Raphinha please sign Serge Gnabry as the Raphinha replacement. Best value for money on the market.”

Arsene Wenger brought Gnabry into the club academy as a teenager in 2013 but was eventually sold to Werder Bremen for £4.5m in August 2016, before joining Bayern a year later.

The German has since then developed into a world-class winger, winning 12 major trophies with the Bundesliga giants including 4 titles, a Champions League, and Club World Cup. He also won 2 FA Cups during his time at Arsenal.
