Arsenal defeat Barcelona 5-3 in pre-season friendly

Arsenal, after the United States tour, will now fly back to North London to take on Monaco in the Emirates Cup

Arsenal bounced back from a 2-0 defeat to Premier League rivals, Manchester United, as they rounded off their US pre-season tour with a 5-3 win over Barcelona on Thursday.

The Gunners came from behind twice to defeat the La Liga giants in a match played at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, United States.  

Barcelona opened the scoring in the 7th minute of the game through a neat finish from Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski

Bukayo Saka equalized six minutes later before the English striker then missed the chance to give the Gunners the lead from the penalty spot.

The Spanish side punished the miss in the 34th minute thanks to Raphinha’s deflected free-kick which made it 2-1 to Barcelona, but Kai Havertz ensured both teams went into the break level.

Leandro Trossard grabbed a brace in the 55th and 78th minutes before Ferran Torres pulled one back. 

However, Fabio Vieira’s delightful finish from distance settled the friendly encounter. 

Arsenal, after the United States tour,  will now fly back to London to take on French side, Monaco in the Emirates Cup.
