FirstNews Editor Segun Olatunji has been released by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) after keeping him in detention for nearly two weeks, during which media houses and rights activists mounted pressure on the authorities to secure his freedom.
He was released in the early hours of today to Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) General Secretary Iyobosa Uwugiaren and The Nation Deputy Editor Yomi Odunuga under a bridge in Asokoro, Abuja.
The security agents were masked and the number plates of their vehicles covered up.
All the documents for his release were signed inside a security vehicle with heavily armed operatives.
