Argentina became the first country to book their place at the final of this year’s World Cup after dispatching Croatia in a semi-final match played at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail, Qatar.
Croatia began the semi-final encounter the brightest of the two sides, but they were unable to take advantage of their dominance.
Rather it was Lionel Scaloni’s men who opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Dominik Livakovic in Croatia’s goal conceded a penalty after tripping Julian Alvarez in the penalty box.

Lionel Messi stepped up and put it away, sending Croatia’s goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 1-0 the Albicelestes.
The South Americans doubled their advantage five minutes later when Julian Alvarez, after a fantastic solo run from the centre of the field, found the net with his right foot.
Lionel Messi then put the match beyond Croatia in the 69th minute after providing an assist for Julian Alvarez who scored a brace and made it 3-0.
With the win, Argentina will now play the winner of the semi-final game between France and the surprise team of the tournament, Morocco, in the final on Sunday, December 18.
