Ex-governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, has launched a new caucus in the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) called Omoluabi Tendency.

Aregbesola, who was Minister of Interior in the Buhari administration, said in a statement released on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the Omoluabi Tendency is a caucus within the APC and not a faction.

The former minister noted that anyone who cannot align with the caucus’ ethos has no place with them.

He said, “Those who cannot align with the Omoluabi ethos don’t have a place with us. Our guiding principle remains a blend of character and competence. While character shapes the human soul, competence reflects one’s efficiency in creating value. These twin pillars, we believe, are the keystones of human civilization and progress.

“As we recognize our stage of development and the urgency to uplift our people, we’re convinced that reinvigorating these core values is pivotal to maintaining our resonance amongst them.”

Speaking at the launch of the group at Ilesa in Osun, Aregbesola said APC lost the last gubernatorial election in the state due to indiscipline and lack of focus.

The formation of a caucus by Aregbesola comes hours after President Bola Tinubu inaugurated Oyetola and 44 others as ministers. Aregbesola and Oyetola have yet to settle their differences.

On Monday night in Abuja, Oyetola was hosted by the Osun State chapter of the APC and other stakeholders following his inauguration as minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

Among those present were Senator Iyiola Omisore, Bisi Akande, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos.
