The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has affirmed Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje as a legitimate member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State.

Justices Abba B. Mohammed, E.O. Abang, and P.C. Obiora gave the ruling on Tuesday.

The appellate court overturned a previous judgment by a Federal High Court which restrained Goje from identifying as an APC member.

The Appeal Court quashed the lower court’s decision and ordered the Gombe APC chapter to pay a fine of N200,000.

In July 2023, Goje filed an appeal, seeking a stay of execution against the Federal High Court’s ruling that upheld his dismissal by the APC executives of Kashere Ward, Akko Local Government Area.

Through his counsel, Paul Erokoro (SAN), Goje argued that the lower court erred, asserting that his right to a fair hearing was violated. He noted that the letter from the ward’s chairman, Tanimu Abdullahi, did not specify the alleged anti-party activities that led to his expulsion.

Reports said that the lawmaker was expelled by the Kashere Ward in April 2023 over allegations of anti-party activities during the 2023 polls.
