The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has called on all party members in Nigeria and diaspora to fast and pray for three days for the Anambra State House of Assembly.

APGA national chairman Victor Oye asked all to pray for God’s mercy to stop the wave of death in the Anambra Assembly following the death of two of its members in three months.

Majority Leader of the Assembly Nnamdi Okafor died at a legislative retreat in South Africa.

Okafor slumped in the early hours of Wednesday in a hotel in Sandton City, Johannesburg, South Africa, and was confirmed dead later.

His death came three months after another member of the Assembly Okechukwu Okoye was beheaded. Okoye represented Aguata Constituency 2.

In a press statement on Thursday, the APGA chairman urged all members to embark on three-day fasting and prayer for peace, growth and development in the Assembly and in the party ahead of the 2023 elections.

“The times in which we have found ourselves are perilous and call for constant prayer, self-examination and penance,” the statement quoted Oye as saying.

The APGA leader called on the leadership of the Anambra State House of Assembly to join in the prayer and fasting as “I see God doing something new in the House soon.”
