The Court of Appeal, Awka Division headed by the Justice, Hon Justice C Nwosu-Iheme has dismissed the applications filed by Chief Edozie Njoku, Jude Okeke and Hon Wilson Onyekwelu, challenging Victor Oye as National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and by implication, the candidacy of Prof Chukwuma Soludo as the party’s flag bearer in the November 6 Anambra governorship election. While ruling on the applications on Monday the 2nd day of August, 2021, the Court of Appeal noted that the applications filed by the applicants were grossly incompetent and thus liable to be dismissed. Consequently, the court dismissed the three applications with heavy costs in favour of the Chief Victor Oye led APGA.

Particularly, the Presiding Justice frowned at the manner various frivolous suits were instituted in respect of Anambra State Governorship primary election of APGA in various states outside Anambra despite the admonitions of the Supreme Court on territorial jurisdictions of State High court. The presiding Justice, called for the severe and immediate disciplinary measures against the Judges and the counsel involved in the spurious judgements obtained in Jigawa state, Imo State and the High Court of the FCT for bringing the image of the judiciary to disrepute and public ridicule.

It will be recalled that Justice C.C. Okaa had delivered an emphatic judgment reaffirming Dr. Ike Victor Oye as the National Chairman of APGA and Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, as the undisputable governorship candidate of APGA. The appellants had filled motions challenging the judgment. They were dismissed.

With the ruling, the aspiration of Chukwuma Umeoji in challenging Soludo as the party’s candidate, suffers serious setback
