Just as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) boasted at the height of its power and political glory, the chairman of the Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Mai Mala Buni, on Tuesday boasted that the party plans to rule Nigeria for another 32 years.
Speaking at the PDP Convention where then President Goodluck Jonathan was nominated for a second term in office in December 2014, former National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, boasted that the party will rule Nigeria for 60 years.
His prediction: The ruling Peoples Democratic Party which has been in charge of Nigeria’s affairs since 1999, will be in power till 2059 A.D.
Ogbulafor, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, on the sideline of Jonathan’s nomination for a second term, said, “There was a time it seemed that PDP was going to crumble but you can see that the party is getting stronger now.”
On Tuesday, Buni echoed the same sentiment for the APC that dislodged PDP from power after Ogbulafor’s boast.
He spoke while inaugurating Governor Badru Abubakar 65-man Strategy and Contact Committee of the party in Abuja.
Buni said the party was set to go beyond 8th term of office.
According to him: “Our vision is to provide a wheel that will drive the party to go beyond 6th, 7th and even 8th term of office to effectively implement the party manifesto, improve the lives of Nigerians and, to remain Nigeria’s leading political party.
“This committee is therefore very key to our process of transition towards successful congresses and national convention and, to establish a very solid, reputable and reliable future for the party”.
