APC Vice Chair warns party that PDP, LP, NNPP are waiting in the wings

APC National Vice Chairman (North West) Salihu Lukman has warned the party cannot afford to make any costly mistake that could give the opposition an edge in the build up to the 2023 vote.

Lukman said Nigerians know the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) are waiting for the APC to mismanage its campaign and lose the trust of voters so they can take over.

Bola Tinubu last week cancelled the presentation of Kashim Shettima to the leadership of the APC as his running mate.

Shettima’s presentation was scheduled to hold at the APC secretariat in Abuja at 1pm on 14 June, but hours before the time journalists were informed that the event had been shifted to another date which was not disclosed.

No reason was given for the postponement.

Sokoto APC has no qualms with Muslim-Muslim ticket

In his own reaction, Sokoto APC Chairman Isa Acida disclosed that the choice of a running mate from the North East would not have a negative impact on the chances of the party winning in Sokoto.

He insisted there is no difference between the North West, the North East or even the North Central, according to reporting by The PUNCH.

Acida said the APC would support its presidential candidate irrespective of where the running mate hails from.

Ohanaeze condemns Muslim-Muslim ticket

But Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, says a Muslim-Muslim ticket shows the APC does not care about the fragile unity and peaceful co-existence of Nigerians.

Ohanaeze Vice President General Damian Okeke-Ogene argued in Awka that the ticket undermines the efforts of well-meaning Nigerians, who have over the years bridged religious differences and promoted ethnic harmonious co-existence.
