Former governor of Rivers State and immediate past Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, on Thursday congratulated former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over his victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election which held on Tuesday.

Tinubu emerged the presidential candidate of the ruling APC in the February 2023 elections having scored 1,271 votes.

Amaechi scored 316 to place second. Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo garnered 235 votes to come third.

Amaechi, in a statement on Thursday, which he personally signed, assured Tinubu of his commitment to his success at the polls in 2023.

He said: “Congratulations on your well-deserved victory at the APC Presidential Convention held on 07 – 08 June 2022 and extend my best wishes as you prepare for the 2023 Presidential Elections.

“I am confident that your victory will re-energize the progressive ideals of our great party APC, buttressed by your mission of a Common Sense Revolution which led to the defeat of PDP in the 2015 general elections.

“As you embark on this historic journey I wish to assure you of my commitment to your success at the polls in 2023 and ultimately look forward to providing the necessary support to ensure that we develop a prosperous country for all Nigerians. Please accept the assurances of my highest esteem.”

In the same primary election where Amaechi came second, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, who the National Chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, earlier announced as the consensus candidate of the party endorsed by President Muhammadu Buhari to the consternation of many, polled a paltry 152 votes.

Pastor Tunde Bakare, who claimed that God anointed him the 16th president of Nigeria to take over from President Buhari scored zero vote, thereby making his God a liar.
