The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed sadness over the death of its former National Vice Chairman (North West), Inuwa Abdulkadir.
Until his death, Abdulkadir was the chairman governing board of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and chairman, governing council of Sokoto State University.
Abdulkadir, who was once attorney general of Sokoto State and Minister of Youth and Sports Development during President Goodluck Jonathan administration, died in the early hours of Monday at the Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital, Sokoto after a brief illness.
He held the traditional title of Magatakarda Babba (chief scribe) of the Sokoto sultanate.
A statement issued by APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, said the party has lost a grassroots politician, true progressive and distinguished personality who served the party and country meritoriously and at the highest level.
He urged all to remember and be comforted by the “positive impact and indelible strides” of Abdulkadir during his lifetime.
The APC expressed condolences to his family, the Sokoto sultanate, and the government and people of Sokoto State.
Meanwhile, his remains were laid to rest in Sokoto on Monday.
The Sokoto Grand Khadi, Tambari Usman led the funeral prayer performed at 2 pm with hundreds of people in attendance including the Deputy Governor, Hon. Mannir Dan Iya.
