The President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressive Congress (APC) government has disappointed Nigerians through its below standard performance,
especially in security of lives and properties since inception in the past three years.
Niger State Chairman of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Comrade Abdulraziz Salaudeen, made the allegation.
He also accused the ruling APC of using collective wealth of Nigerians to fund the party, while denying other political parties of same measure of incentives.
The party chairman, Minna, expressed concerns that Nigerians never had it so bad, living every moment in fear of threats to life and properties by suspected Fulani herdsmen, armed robbers, kidnappers and ritual killers.
“I wouldn’t want to say the Buhari administration is a complete write-off; but I will also not pretend to say that all is well after all. Government will always tell us that Boko-Haram has been annihilated but we still hear about more killings. Where are they coming from?
“Look at what is happening in Benue, Taraba, Plateau and Nasarawa states. ‘Is it that our combined security outfits are lacking in skills on how to tackle these Fulani herdsmen or that they lacked enough man power? Let them employ more hands, enough of the killings,” he said.
He pointed out that part of the responsibilities of any government was to protect lives and properties of citizenry, the parry chairman, however, wondered why Nigerians now have a government and its security apparatus that are not tired of giving excuses of non-performance, stressing, “This is not what Nigerians need now.”
He also said,
“The APC government promised us change, and this should be from something bad to good instead of what we are all witnessing today, change from better to the worst as Nigerians are currently grappling with hardship.”
Meanwhile, the NCP chairman has accused the ruling APC of plots to turn the country into a one-party state by using the collective wealth of Nigerians to fund the party while at the same time trying to muzzle other registered political parties.
“In U.S. there are two major political parties, but there are numerous others. They have their subventions from government and that is why we are canvassing that the National Assembly to enact a law that will grant all registered political parties subvention”.
Salaudeen argued that the ruling party was being funded from Nigeria tax payers’ money, while Senators and House of Representatives are being paid from same taxes me and you pay and they use part of the monies to fund the APC. Why can’t the National Assembly approve subvention to all registered parties as proposed by the former INEC chairman, Professor Maurice Iwu.
