The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the invasion of the Nigerian Senate by suspected thugs who disrupted Wednesday’s plenary and carted away the mace.
The party, via its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that the incident was as an attack on the nation’s democracy and a desecration of the hallowed institution of the National Assembly.
The party has therefore called on security agencies to recover the stolen mace and ensure that the perpetrators and their sponsors were brought to justice.
It would be recalled that the Senate recently suspended one of its members, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, representing Delta Central, for working against the National Assembly; while senators also called for the resignation of all Service Chiefs over rising insecurity.
