Governor Rotimi Akeredolu

There are indications that another communal crisis may erupt at Chief Ajayi Ekekumo Layout, (Igbosanyin Community) Alagbaka Extension, Akure in Ondo state that may claim lives and properties if urgent action is not taken by the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN.

The crisis rocking the community is similar to that of Isinigbo and Ode Communities where about four people were killed as several properties burnt, including Isinigbo palace.

A petition has been written to Governor Akeredolu to wade into the crisis rocking the Igbosanyin Community to avert wanton maiming, killing, bloodbath and violence in the community.

The crisis has to do with the Elekumo Family and the Occupants who are both laying claim of the community.

It was gathered that Elekumo family has started to resell the lands in the community where houses have been built claiming that they sold the lands in error in a cheaper prices to the occupants, who are owners of the land.

A Solicitor, John Olowookere and Co to one of the Occupants of the land, Mr. Paul Olopha Omoh in the petition noted that unless immediate action is taken to call the erring family members to order, otherwise his client and other land owners in the community may be pushed to the wall to return attack for attack and may result to avoidable bloodbath as nobody has the monopoly of violence.

“Our client and other parties to the dispute cannot continue to fold their hands in perpetuity and allow their sweat of many years to be destroyed before them unlawfully while the matter is still before a court of competent jurisdiction,” he said.

“The affected owners of the land on the disputed land hereby passionately appeal and call on the Governor to take note of the foregoing with a view to rise to the occasion to avert another communal crisis in the state,” he added.
