ANLCA resumes at Secretariat as Police re-open office

The National Executive Committee (NECOM), of the Association of Nigerian Licenced Customs Agents (ANLCA), has taken over the secretariat after it was locked by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Recall that the association has been engulfed in leadership crisis by a factional Board of Trustees of the association led by Taiwo Mustapha and the NECOM led by the acting president, Dr Kayode Farinto.

However, in a statement by the association and made available to TheNiche the Police re-opened the secretariat on Friday, December 30, 2022.

In the statement, Justice D.E Osiagor, struck out the suit challenging the eligibility of NECOM, saying it lacks merits.

The statement reads, “Nigeria Police Force re -open ANLCA Headquarters for business on the 30th December,2022.

“Recall that on the 24th of August,2022,the Expired Five man Board of Trustees led by Mustapha Taiwo made forceful entry into the premises of the Association National Secretariat and Consequently Appointed an interim National Executive committee (I-NECOM).

“This shameful Act,was a fall out of a Federal High Court ,ikoyi Lagos suit No:FHC/L/CS/921/20 sponsored Since year 2020 by the duo of Obokun freight Forwarders Limited and Gidugo Nigeria Limited,wherein they seek among other reliefs to Dissolved all the Three(3)National Organs of the Association:Board of Trustees(BOT),National Executive committee(NECOM) and Association Electoral commission (ASECO)

“In the ensuring court proceedings,an interim order was granted restraining NECOM Ably led by Hon.Tony iju Nwabunike pending the determination of the courts on all other reliefs sought by the plaintiffs.


But, in a twist, Taiwo Mustapha, Ex -Board member and 1st respondent party to the suit,whose Boardship in the year 2020 was a target for dissolution as per relief sought by plaintiffs,compounded the situations.

“This shameful Act and the attendants possible breakdown of Law and order, necessitated the Police intervention by way of sealing up the National Secretariat pending the determination of the suit at Federal high court, Ikoyi, Lagos.”


To God be the glory,the suit was effectively STRUCK OUT by his Lordship Justice D.E.Osiagor for lack of merits on the 5th December,2022,Consequently affirming Tony iju-led NECOMS subsistence.
