British professional tennis player, Andy Murray, has been beaten by Olympic champion and 4th ranked player in the world, Germany’s Alexander Zverev in two straight sets.
The three-time grand slam winner, who fought gallantly in the very tight encounter, ultimately succumbed to the first loss in three meetings with the hard-fighting German, who triumphed 6-4 7-6.
Murray, who is currently ranked outside the top 100 players in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) ranking, has been plagued by injuries recently.
He was at a time ranking Number 1 by APT for 41 weeks and has 2 Wimbledon and 1 US Open title to his name
Meanwhile, his conqueror, Zverev, moves on to face French 14th seed Gael Monfils or South African, Kevin Anderson in the last 16 of the Indian Wells Masters.
