Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti has said his team defeated Chelsea 2-0 in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-final first-leg fixture at Santiago Bernabeu because of their approach to the game.

According to the Italian tactician, Real Madrid won against the west London club because his players played a very well-rounded game against Frank Lampard’s side both offensively and defensively.

Two goals from French striker, Karim Benzema and Spanish midfielder, Marco Asensio in the 21st and 74th minutes respectively, gave the La Liga giant victory over Chelsea.

Speaking at this post-match press conference after the game, Ancelotti said his team suffered at the beginning of the game because Chelsea is a good team.

He said, “We played a very well-rounded game.

“We suffered somewhat at the beginning, but the objective was to get ahead and that is what we did. We will have to suffer there because Chelsea have a very good team with very good players, and we’ve another 90 minutes to endure.

“We are satisfied with the result and the performance”.

Real Madrid travel to Stamford Bridge next week Tuesday to face Chelsea in the return leg of the UCL double header.
