Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has disclosed the reason La Liga champions decided not to add Victor Osimhen to their strike force last summer.

The Nigerian international was linked with a number of top clubs around Europe last summer following a superlative outing for Napoli.

The striker scored 26 goals in 32 outings to help the Partenopei win the Scudetto after waiting for a very long time.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid lost their talismanic forward, Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia club, Al Ittihad but opted not to replace him.

Explaining why the Los Blancos did not sign Osimhen despite losing Benzema, Ancelotti said the signing of Jude Bellingham from Dortmund compensated for the French striker’s departure and watered down the need for the Napoli forward.

Speaking on Radio Serie A, the Italian tactician said: “No (we didn’t sign Osimhen) because I think the club thought that Benzema’s absence could be remedied by purchasing (Jude) Bellingham.”
