Anambra poll: APGA vows to resist rigging

Victor Oye, APGA National Chairman

The national Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Ike Oye, has warned that his party would not fold its hands and allow a rival political party to rig the election and create chaos in the state.

Oye said that there was no alternative to free and fair election, stressing that anyone, who tries to compromise the election is calling for anarchy.

He expressed confidence that President Muhammadu Buhari would ensure a free and fair election using Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Momood Yakubu, who interfaced with stakeholders in Anambra on Tuesday.

Oye, who addressed a press conference, also asked Buahri to call to order some politicians who boast openly that Saturday’s Governorship election would be rigged.

Also he raised the alarm that there had been influx of strangers into Anambra State and urged security agents to be on guard of any unforeseen happening.

His words: “We want to let the world know that we have everything on ground to win this election. Anambra is APGA state.

“You all know that the monumental achievements of this administration among which is security.

“We want to sound a warning to those who are ganging up to destabilize the state. Some people are boasting that the election will be rigged.

“We are civil and cooperate with the Federal government for the smooth running of the country. We do not believe that President Buhari will subscribe to rigging of election because he had in the past eulogized Anambra state government.”

He expressed confidence that Buhari would ensure a free and fair election using INEC chairman, who interfaced with stakeholders on Tuesday.

He welcomed the restoration of Governor Willie Obiano’s security details, saying that is what it ought to be. “Nobody should undermine the administration of our state”, he added.

On the reception of Buahari at the helipad of Ekwueme square, venue of the grand rally of APC, Oye said that there was nothing wrong with that because the state government is civil and cooperates with the federal government for smooth running of the government.
