The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Oseloka Obaze, has promised the people of Anambra State that if elected governor on November 18, he would serve only one term in office.
Obaze made the pledge when he led his campaign team, which included his running  mate, Barr. Alexandra Onyemelukwu,  and the former Gov. of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, to Lagos on Thursday.

The campaign train visited nine markets – Electronics/ Electrical Alaba; Balogun Business Association ( BBA); APT, ASPAMDA, among others.

In each of the markets, Obaze’s message was the same. He regretted that the current Governor, Willy Obiano, had allegedly failed not only by poor representation of the North Senatorial District, but also by what he termed total failure to sustain the gains recorded by his predecessor.

Both Obiano and Obaze are from the same senatorial zone. So, accepting that Obiano was about completing his first term, which by extension is the zone’s first term, Obaze vowed that he would do only one term to complete the second term for the zone.

His major campaign thrust was the presentation of his manifesto to the people, which, according to him, is hinged on education as the major tool for the emancipation of the people. He said that not only would 26% of the budget go to education, that 10% of it would go to government’s critical partners  in education, namely, the Church. He also said that they would come out with a template for functional vocational education.

Mr. Obaze regretted that all the projects started by the Obi administration before he left office had been abandoned and vowed to revisit all of them.

Obaze also pledged to  explore his international connection garnered in over 20 years at the United Nations to bring back all the development partners that have since left the State.

Earlier in his remarks, Obi said that though he was the one that brought Gov. Obiano out, but that as he promised while campaigning for him, that he owed  it to himself and the society, the moral duty to help  in his replacement for demonstration of gross incompetence.

Obi took time to reel out his achievements in office, the money he left for Obiano (over N100 billion), asking what had happened to the money. He regretted that in spite of the bequeathal, that Obiano went on to even plunge the state into debt, thus enslaving the future of Anambra state.
