Anambra pastor, Igboke, commits suicide after lover dumped him

Igboke was buried in a forest in his community in Abia State on Friday, for taking his own life

A 30-year-old pastor with a pentecostal church in Nnewi, Anambra State, identified as Prosper Obum Igboke has taken his own life after he was jilted by his lover.

According to DAILY POST, the middle-aged man jumped down from a two-story building after he was left heartbroken by his girlfriend.

Speaking about the incident, a relative of the deceased, who pleaded anonymity, said the man trained his lover at the university, but she declined his marriage proposal.

He went on to say that he was shocked that Igboke committed suicide despite being a pastor.

He said: “The man was 30 years old at the time of his death. His girlfriend, whom he intended to marry disappointed him after seeing her through the university.

“He jumped down from a two-story building and died. I am surprised that a man of his age and a pastor can do this.”

The source further said according to the tradition of the Leru community of Umunneochi LGA in Abia State, where the late cleric hails from, anyone who commits such a sacrilege will be buried in a forest. 

As a result, the deceased pastor on Friday, August 25, buried in a bush in the community.
