Anambra state government has put a lie to viral social reports alleging gunmen attack at an unnamed hospital in the state and abduction of new born babies. The report which trended in the social media on Wednesday, December 8, alleged that the attack took place in an unidentified hospital in Nkpologwu, Aguata local government area of the state.

But in a strong rebuttal, the government dismissed the reports as a hoax, insisting that there was no gunmen attack anywhere in the State.

In a statement dismissing the allegation of the attacks, the Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu said the reports were mere fictions, sponsored through dishonest and unethical reporters to create fear among Ndi Anambra, adding that the Government has ensured there is adequate protection of the people during the Yuletide period.

“There are reports currently flying around the social media by supposedly respectable national media that gunmen attacked a maternity hospital in Anambra State and abducted four (4) new born babies. “The Government of Anambra State wishes to state in very clear terms that the report is NOT TRUE. No such attack took place in Anambra State and no babies were abducted. These are mere fictions, sponsored through dishonest and unethical reporters to create fear among Ndi Anambra, but they will not succeed as Government has ensured there is enough boots on ground to protect our people this Yuletide. Anybody that dares government resolve to ensure a peaceful season will only have himself to blame.

“Government is urging Ndi Anambra to go about their normal businesses without fear”.
