An Iraqi man, Imam Mohammed Tawhidi, also known as Imam of Peace, has engaged President Muhammadu Buhari’s supporters in a Twitter war.

His grouse was the President’s lack of communication to Nigerians on the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari still doesn’t  know the name of the virus killing 24,000+ at such a rapid rate. Addressing the nation about it for the first time, he pronounced the virus as ‘CIVIK 1-9,” the Imam tweeted.

That comment infuriated the president’s men who called  the Imam coward.

The imam responded by saying he was speaking the mind of majority of Nigerians. To prove that, he designed an online poll which asked if he was representing the views of Nigerians.

At the time of filing this report, 32,378 people have so far voted. Of that number, 83 per cent said the Imam was speaking for Nigerians while 17 per cent disagree.

On twitter, Imam and President Covik have remained the top two twitter trend in Nigeria with an engagement of close to 100,000. The Imam said that feat can only happen because he was speaking for Nigerians.
